Make sure you watch the TV show “Happy Endings” on ABC tomorrow night, Busy Philipps will be making a cameo as Laurie from “Cougar Town”! The show airs at 9:30pm on ABC, so tune in to see if you can spot her!
Busy Philipps has revealed that she would love Taye Diggs to guest star on Cougar Town.
Laurie, Philipps’s character in the ABC comedy, is a big fan of the Private Practice star and the actress explained that she would enjoy working with him.
“I would love Taye Diggs [to come on the show],” she told E! Online. “I would love it. I love that my character is obsessed with him.”
Philipps continued: “I keep trying to pitch it. I’m like, ‘Look, he’s on an ABC show – he can do a couple episodes!’ And the joke could be that my character has always loved Taye Diggs and this could just be a random guy that looks a lot like Taye Diggs.”
Diggs said last year that he is a “fan of the show” and “would love” to have a cameo at some point.
Susan Blakely and Sarah Chalke recently signed up for roles in Cougar Town, which returns in midseason on ABC.
Busy Philipps says the top brass at “Cougar Town” are still thinking of changing the name of the ABC comedy.
“Friends with Drinks?” Billy Bush asked.
”‘Friends with Beverages’ is one I had heard,” Busy told Billy as she guest co-hosted Access Hollywood Live on Thursday. “I don’t know. They go back and forth about it. I think that [showrunners] Bill Lawrence and Kevin Biegel and [star] Courteney Cox are very serious about changing the name.”
Beyond talk of the name change, “Cougar Town” could move to a new night when it returns to ABC.
“This season we’re coming into our third season and this year we’re gonna get our own hour to lead off ‘cause we’ve been following ‘Modern Family,’ which is amazing because it’s a fantastic show and a huge hit, but no matter what happens, our numbers always look a little sad in comparison to ‘Modern Family’s’ because it’s a huge hit,” Busy said of the potential move. “I think that they’re maybe gonna [air ‘Cougar Town’] after ‘Dancing with the Stars.’”
During her visit on Access Hollywood Live, where the star interviewed fellow actors Bryce Dallas Howard and George Lopez, Busy revealed that her “Cougar Town” co-star inspired her to have meals delivered on set.
“I remember Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox doing it on ‘Friends’ when I was in high school and I was like, ‘Some day, when I’m on television, I’m gonna get my food delivered to me and I do,’” Busy laughed.
Catch Busy on the big screen in the upcoming film, “I Don’t Know How She Does It” alongside Sarah Jessica Parker and Greg Kinnear when it opens on September 16.
Early this morning, the nominees for the 2011 Primetime Emmy Awards were announced. Sadly, neither Busy or “Cougar Town” were nominated! TV Line has a great write-up about the biggest snubs from this year – including Busy and the show!

Cougar TownIn its second season, the wine-soaked “Friends for grown- ups” really came into its own as an ensemble comedy rather than just a Courteney Cox vehicle. And it even poked fun at the icky title that long ago ceased to have anything to do with the series premise — not that Emmy took notice.
